Olakunle Ogunjobi

Physicist and data scientist. I study how the Sun disturbs the ionosphere and the GNSS signals passing through it, and I build machine learning models and software that turn that data into decisions.

A GNSS signal crossing a disturbed equatorial ionosphere: calm, then scintillating, then calm again.

Research

My work links space physics to the technology people rely on every day. Over more than ten years I have worked with HF radar, neutron monitor, satellite and GNSS data, from the Antarctic ice at SANAE IV to receivers across equatorial Africa.

GNSS and the ionosphere

Forecasting ionospheric scintillation that degrades positioning, timing and navigation, with a focus on the data sparse equatorial sector.

Space weather

Cosmic ray ground level enhancements, solar wind coupling, and the response of the mesosphere and lower thermosphere.

Machine learning

Models for noisy geophysical time series, and the pipelines that put them into operational use.

Software

I build the tools my research and my institution need, in Python, SQL, Linux, Django and React.

Fee payment monitor

Reconciles bank statements against student records in real time using QR generated payment references. Deployed and in use.

Dossier engine

Merges, scales and serially numbers hundreds of PDFs with a generated table of contents; 1,525 pages from 161 files in under ten seconds.

Academic planning dashboard

Staff, students, calendar automation and curriculum alignment in one view for a university's planning office.
